Southcoast Health Hosts Beam-Signing Event for Expanded Tobey Emergency Department

The expanded facility has an anticipated opening of January 2022, officials said.

Tobey Hospital’s expanded Emergency Dept. progress celebrated with ceremonial beam signing

[Source: wickedlocal.com] An important milestone was reached in the $25 million construction of Tobey Hospital’s new Emergency Dept. Monday with the ceremonial signing of the last structural steel beam prior to its being put in place.

The new ED will triple the space of the former emergency department, bringing it to 25,000 square feet, noted Southcoast Health President and CEO Keith Hovan in remarks to those gathered under a tent Monday to celebrate the event.

The former ED was last renovated in 1987, “and was designed for a flow of patient volume of roughly 15,000 patients a year,” Hovan said.

Southcoast Health donates new ambulance, equipment to Wareham EMS

Southcoast Health announces new board chair, annual award winners

Cabral, a real estate professional with a background in education, healthcare and state government, was elected Dec. 10 at the health system’s annual meeting, during which New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell and Wareham Town Administrator Derek Sullivan were named this year’s winners of Southcoast’s Heroes for Health award. In addition, Baycoast Bank President and CEO Nicholas M. Christ was recognized for community service with Southcoast’s Trustees’ Medal, according to a news release.

Tobey Hospital Emergency Department Expansion Begins
